Sensitivity Training - "Being an anti-racism ally"
Inspired by a great program facilitated by the University of Manitoba's UMSU council and the Rainbow Resource Centre, I think that some sensitivity/"ally" training campaigns should be introduced in our city and really, across Canada. Challenging misconceptions, assumptions and stereotypes with real facts and more centralized knowledge will help people who are lacking the knowledge on racism, colonization and white privilege to become more enlightened and more informed. Furthermore, this will reinforce one's anti-racism perceptions and allow people to actively challenge themselves and others.
