Education as a Tool
Education
Racism occurs do to a lack of understanding and awareness of others and their culture. Our class feels that knowledge is the key to create cross-cultural understanding and respect. For younger ages this can be done in schools. Teachers have a difficult job and work tirelessly. However, it is important for teachers to present multiple perspectives and ways of knowing. In Prince George B.C. schools have Aboriginal Ed workers who are experts on indigenous knowledge and work with classroom teachers to integrate lessons from Aboriginal perspective or philosophy.
