'Native issues' are human issues.

I lived in Whitehorse, Yukon for about thirty years, and when I relocated to Winnipeg I immediately noticed the rampant racism against native people here. I believe that we need to stop looking at certain problems such as poverty, addictions, etc. as 'native issues' and see them as human issues, as they affect us all. And no, I am not First Nations, I am so-called 'white.'

It is an absolute shame and blight on our society the way native people are oppressed and ghettoized. Non-aboriginal people need to stand up and say, "I'm not going to be a part of this and I am going to help affect change" through our words and deeds.
